MOHS welcomes transfer students at any grade level! However, in order to meet our accreditation requirements, please be aware that students are limited to a maximum of 18 transfer credits. This policy applies to students transferring from MiaPrep.com, from an unaccredited program or homeschool, or from public or private school.

Yes! Depending on your state of residence, there may be school choice funding options available.

MOHS tuition may be paid for via grants, Education Savings Accounts, and tax credits offered through the following states:

The product listing on School Choice program marketplaces is pre-set, full-price rates, so discounts and promotions are not applicable, and the surplus cannot be redirected toward other payments.

Students who have already completed coursework for high school will be awarded credits based on verification of adequate documentation, transcripts from a previous school, and/or placement tests as needed. New enrollees will meet with our academic counselor to design their Student Academic Plan before their first day of school.

This policy applies to students transferring from MiaPrep.com, from an unaccredited program or homeschool, or from public or private school.

Yes! Since the high school credits will be based on earning course credits and not on a traditional school year plan, students can work through the courses that best fit their academic levels. Students and parents will set up an academic plan with an advisor once they enroll that will detail which courses students need to complete to earn a diploma.

Since private schools without government funding are not required to follow IEPs or 504s, MiaPrep Online High School has limited ability to provide those services. Still, we look forward to partnering with you to create a plan that supports your child’s success.

At this time, we are able to accommodate students’ learning needs by offering:

  • Flexible-paced learning, allowing students to learn on their own schedule
  • Revisions on Checkpoint assignments, so students can resubmit them for a higher grade
  • Retakes on all multiple choice assessments on our site
  • Weekly office hours for each core subject that students can attend, along with other students, to get help with coursework
  • Modifications or alternatives for specific Checkpoint assignments
  • Feedback and grading for specific Checkpoint assignments
  • Flexible and optional social opportunities for students to interact with teachers and other students
  • Academic counseling to customize your students’ course load based on their interests, goals, and academic abilities
  • Accessibility-focused site features, such as Text-to-Speech, closed captions, self-paced lessons, unlimited time on assessments, the ability to pause or take a break during assessments, and the ability to reassign lessons or review lessons at any point

Because of our limited resources as a new school, we are NOT currently able to offer the following supports:

  • 1-on-1 tutoring or support for students with a teacher outside of scheduled office hours
  • A designated special education teacher who is responsible for your child’s learning goals
  • Occupational therapy, speech therapy, or other specific cognitive or physical therapeutic services
  • Grading and/or feedback for all assignments found in our PDFs outside of office hours (grading for each course will be limited to Checkpoint assignments only)
  • Guaranteed compatibility with assistive technology
  • Modified video or digital resources (such as printing PDFs and mailing them to parents)
  • Sustained mental health or behavioral health services
  • Support for any content that is not offered on MiaPrep.com

While these lists are not exhaustive, we hope that they can help you decide if MiaPrep Online High School is a good fit for your student. If you would like to ask about specific concerns related to your child and whether we can provide support for their needs, please let us know by emailing [email protected].

We’re excited to offer reduced-cost, dual-credit courses through our partnership with ASU! Please visit this page for more information.

Yes, if they have the appropriate amount of credits that cover our graduation requirements. Students may also be able to graduate earlier by taking additional credits through our Arizona State University dual-enrollment partnership.

Yes, this is possible. Students entering MOHS at any grade must be enrolled with MOHS for at least nine months and complete at least six credits through our program to qualify for graduation.

While all one-credit courses at MOHS are designed around a 9-month traditional school timeline and all half-credit courses are intended for a 4.5-month timeline, we recognize that students may need more or less time to complete our courses. To provide adequate flexibility while ensuring steady progress, we have established a 12-month completion policy that requires students to fully complete each course they begin within a 12-month calendar year from the start date of the course. As such, courses that are begun on different dates will have different deadlines for completion. This policy is new as of July 2024.

Please note that this policy remains in effect even during time scheduled away from MOHS, such as vacations or summer breaks.

Extenuating circumstances may be assessed on an individual basis to qualify for flexibility with this policy.

MOHS is a flexible, self-paced high school that uses the MiaPrep curriculum. Students will submit certain assignments through Google Classroom, but most of their daily learning follows the flexible MiaPrep Learning Path.

Students can log on and complete assignments at the time that is best for them, slowing down or working ahead depending on their academic needs.

We will not hold regular live classes – students will continue to follow their own at-home learning schedule in order to remain flexible in their education.

We do offer live office hours, social clubs, and other educational events that students may attend via Zoom. Attendance at these events is encouraged, but optional.

MOHS students are required to meet with their assigned advisor once per quarter through a video call. This meeting is a way for us to monitor student progress, help students set personal goals, develop interpersonal skills, and provide a point of contact for each student.

Each quarter, students will be contacted through school email by their advisor with an invitation to set up a short video conference. Meetings are 1:1 with the advisor, typically last 10-30 minutes, and are held via a Google Meet.Newly enrolled students and their families are expected to attend a two-week check-in meeting with their counselor and advisor. This occurs roughly two weeks after the student’s first day of school. This will allow for a review of progress up to that point and ensure the student is ready to work more independently on their courses.

The MOHS Launchpad consists of four live online classes during the first week of enrollment with MOHS.

The MOHS Launchpad is designed to coach students through proper study skills, time management skills, and digital organization skills as they begin their journey with MOHS.

New students are required to attend the MOHS Launchpad.

We do not offer 1-on-1 tutoring. However, we will have regularly scheduled office hours for small-group tutoring where any student can drop in to meet with a subject-specific certified teacher. During office hours, students can ask any questions they need to about their course, small assignments, or Checkpoint assignments. Often, these office hours work just like 1-on-1 meetings, but because they are open to the MiaPrep Online High School community, there may be other students in attendance who are looking for help as well.

Yes, we will! Once students complete all of the coursework needed for their diploma, they will be invited to attend the next upcoming graduation ceremony so that we can recognize their accomplishments. All graduation ceremonies will be held online.

If you’re looking to homeschool your child, MiaPrep.com is a great option for your homeschool curriculum. You as the parent will have full control over your child’s courses and schedule and are responsible for grading written work, assigning credits, and issuing a homeschool diploma.

If you’re looking for an online school option, MiaPrep Online High School is an accredited private school that will allow your child to earn credits and a high school diploma. Your child will be required to take certain courses to earn their high school diploma at MOHS, but they’ll have support from teachers and counselors along the way.

At MiaPrep Online High School, your student will use the same curriculum that MiaPrep.com offers, plus additional and exclusive subject-specific seminars, guest speakers, and the opportunity to meet with teachers for additional help during scheduled office hours. Students will also have a number of assignments for each course that will act as checkpoints for your student’s progress, and these will be graded by credentialed teachers. These will verify that your student is learning the content as expected and ensure that they are progressing toward earning course credits.

Yes! MiaPrep Online High School is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) for grades 9-12. This accreditation permits MOHS to award diplomas and course credits recognized by universities, trade schools, and careers worldwide.

  • Receiving a diploma from an accredited private school
  • Advice and guidance from an academic advisor, making sure your child is on track
  • Grading and feedback for specific assignments from qualified teachers
  • Access to social clubs, subject-specific seminars, and guest speakers
  • Opportunity to attend office hours for help from a qualified teacher

While still…

  • Having flexibility over days/times of study
  • Having the flexibility of choosing courses (with the guidance of an academic advisor)

Yes! However, the curriculum on MiaPrep.com and MiaPrep Online High School requires two slightly different accreditations.

The curriculum on MiaPrep.com is accredited as a Supplementary Education Program, which means our curriculum has been vetted, is considered high-quality by the accreditation agency, and can be used as a main curriculum in your own homeschooling (depending on the laws of your state). With your membership to MiaPrep.com, your child has access to high-quality materials but is still homeschooled by you. Using our curriculum alone does not award any credits or issue a diploma to your student.

MiaPrep Online High School, however, is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) for grades 9-12. This accreditation is an extra step beyond our existing accreditation for MiaPrep.com and Miacademy. It permits MOHS to award diplomas and course credits that are recognized by universities, trade schools, and careers all across the world.

Additionally, MOHS uses MiaPrep.com curriculum. As opposed to homeschooling on your own, enrolling your child in MiaPrep Online High School is the equivalent of enrolling your child in any other private school, while still retaining many of the benefits and flexibility of learning from home. MiaPrep Online High School is different from our MiaPrep.com website membership because of the additional benefits, including awarding high school credits upon successful completion of courses, which will lead to a diploma that we will issue.

If you decide that MiaPrep Online High School is not a good fit for you, we will always continue to offer our current MiaPrep.com homeschool curriculum. We are dedicated to providing a flexible, homeschool curriculum for parents who choose that route.

If you need any further information about WASC or their accreditation process, please reach out to them here: Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 533 Airport Blvd., Suite 200, Burlingame, CA 94010.

MOHS is recognized by the Department of Education in California as a private high school and is accredited by WASC, a regional accrediting body. This is accepted by colleges, universities, and employers as a proof of high school graduation.

In addition to the MOHS diploma, you may also need to create a parent-issued homeschool diploma as part of your state and/or school districts’ requirements.

This varies by state and/or school district. Your state and/or school district may have specific requirements for a parent-issued homeschool diploma.

Depending on your student’s postgraduate plans, it could be useful to research the type of diploma that is required. For example, for New York, if students wish to apply for in-state university scholarships, they need to have a diploma issued in New York. In this case, students would need to apply with their parent-issued homeschool diploma as opposed to their MOHS diploma.
